What's the best way to play with my dog?

There are good games and there are bad games for dogs.  I recommend the following games:  Learn more...

Fetch: This would be throwing the ball and having it chase after it.  You can encourage your dog to bring it back to you by crouching down and opening your arms up. But don’t make the mistake of giving the dog the command to “come” or they might make the mistake of not coming back.  So just encourage them by calling their name and waving your arms as stated above. The purpose of this is to not only bring his/her spirits up but also to give it some exercise.

Catch: This would be throwing the ball and having your dog catch it.  You can do this on a smaller gradient and then working up to longer throws – more of a challenge.

Tug-o-War:  A rope or something similar is the best toy to use when playing.   In order to establish your seniority make sure you win 99% of the time.  Make it clear that you are "Top Dog" and you will be teaching him a very lesson even though you are playing.   Since he's not human his mentality may not be the same as yours - that you are playing.
