What are the laws of the land? There are many laws that you need to know about having a dog in this society. These laws were made in an effort to keep peace, cooperation, safety and happiness for everyone whether or not a person owns a dog. Below is a basic Code for any dog owner to abide by which follows the laws of the land in society. This is not the actual law but something that gives guidance for everyone in order to abide by the laws of the land. 0. Make sure that your dog gets regular check-ups, shots, medicine, etc. from your trusty Vet. This will ensure a healthy and happier dog. 1. Have your dog groomed regularly. This will ensure better health and hygiene for everyone in the family and being less prone to infections, etc 2. Take your dog on a walk using a leash at all times. Never take it off unless you are sure the dog or others will be safe in the environment it is in. 3. Bring a plastic bag or other means of waste pick-up. Always clean up after your dog has done its business no matter where it is. On City property a fine could be given if waste is left behind. 4. Do not keep your dog in your car for any length of time. It could be fatal just from the heat alone. And there is also the possibility that it could be stolen from your car. 5. When traveling in a car bring along water and a bowl for drinking once you get to your destination. 6. Make sure your dog has a collar and ID tags. You could also invest in a micro chip being put onto your dog in case it gets stolen or lost – it makes it more possible to track it down and get it back to you. 7. Practice training regularly with your dog using good habits and rewarding these when you see them and conversely, when you see bad habits, jumping on them and handling them with a negative response and/or a correction. 8. I recommend lots of walks. Yes, you could go to dog parks and other places where there are lots of dogs but I don’t recommend it. Give your dog the opportunity to see the things you see, to go to places that you go. Don't make your dog fulfill the destiny of a boring backyard throughout its entire life. Let it enjoy even a simple trip when you do your errands around city. |
