Education for maintaining a dog indoors/outdoors.

The dog is an animal which originated from a pack family.  This means that they would live in a den with several other dogs.

Because of this they grew up in the outdoors.  All of their activities such as hunting and playing would occur outside.

Now that we have a more domesticated environment – they now live in our homes and not outside – it is important that they learn the difference between indoor and outdoor behavior.

Indoor behavior would be calm and friendly behavior.  Comfortably lying down on a mat and being petted would be a typical example.

Outdoor behavior would be for playing, running freely or anything in an enclosed space dedicated for your dog.

It is important that they learn the difference between indoor and outdoor behavior.  This isn't something that happens over night.  The behaviors change depending on what changes you make in its environment.

Have a trainer come to your home and give an evaluation and advice as to what changes you can make to develop this sense of understanding the differences of indoor/outdoor behavior.

It's also important to give your child a better understanding of the behaviors of a dog and why it is important to let it live its life as a canine and not to interfere with its development before, during or after training.  It also helps to teach it the differences of a human to an animal.
